Alleviating the Sunday Night Blues

There’s more pressure on us today in an increasingly competitive, economically challenging and fast-paced world

It’s my belief that alleviating the Sunday Night Blues will boost productivity and innovation which, ultimately, would make work better for all of us.

Our weekends are vital as a time to rest, recuperate and get some perspective. We may love our jobs and perform well at work, but the Sunday Night Blues are tainting our weekends, affecting our mental wellness and performance and preventing us from being our best at work.

What can we do to reduce the Sunday Night Blues?

The research suggests it is all about transition. The Sunday Night Blues are influenced by they way we structure and balance our transition into and out of the weekend. This is not about striving to be positive and energetic 24/7 - that would be exhausting and unauthentic! This is about balance and how we want to live our lives, and it will be different for all of us.

I believe there are three pillars:

  • Prioritise yourself

  • Create space

  • Plan positive

We all want to be successful and recognised for our contribution. I encourage you to read these practical steps and put them into action. It will make a difference, not only to you but to the people around you too.
